ASSOCIATION EUROPÉENNE DES ENSEIGNANTS

             The European Association of Teachers

 

 

Founded in Paris on the 8th of July 1956 the association is meant to group all the teachers and the persons involved in the field of education who wish to contribute to the implementation of an united political Europe with a federal caracter.

 

The aimes of the association are:

·        to widen the teachers’ knowledge of European economical, social , political and cultural awareness for creating a common European behavior;

·        to work with methods which to foster the recognition of common European fundaments which will help young people and adults to learn to live together in a democratic and multicultural society;

·        to disseminate these objective to all the partners involved in the educational field and all milieus where there action is possible for promoting the notion of a real European citizenship responsible and aware of its rights and obligations;

·        to search methods of encouraging initiatives centered on these aimes, respecting the unity in diversity principal

 

The association offers answers to these questions: 

·        How to prepare new generations in building the European society of the future?

·        How to reinforce the concepts of European identity and citizenship?

·        How to emphasize the teaching of languages?

 

A.E.D.E. proposes a varied range of initiatives in the field of education, such as : days of study, the implication of all mass-media, meetings and contacts, the promovation of modern languages practice. The main means of reaching its goals are the partnership actions under the aegis of the E.U. Commission in all the actions and stages of education and formation.

AEDE collaborates with: the European Commission in Brussels, the Council of Europe and UNESCO as a Non Governmental Organization, all organizations pursuing the same objectives, such as the European Movement, ESHA [European Secondary Heads Association], ATEE [Association for Teacher Trainers in Europe] and other PLEASE-organizations.
